Lleyton Hewitt will play for Australia in his team's Davis Cup encounter against Argentina. That is good news for the "kangaroos", since the US Open & Wimbledon former champion was uncertain for the clash at mid-July. And it wasn't because of some injury, but because of his history against Argentine players.

David Nalbandian, Juan Ignacio Chela and Augustin Calleri were all involved in pretty rough matches against the Australian. Almost every time they met,
the match ended in tough verbal conflicts between the 2 opponents. That was the main reason Hewitt refused to give a clear answer on his participation in the Davis Cup match, especially since the encounter will get under way in Argentina.

Still, Hewitt took all measures possible to make sure his safety will not be endangered. "The security guards will accompany Lleyton throughout the weekend and give him the assurance we felt he needed", said team Australia Media Manager, John Lindsay.

Moreover, Lindsay revealed he held continuous talks with his argentine counterparts so that the matches will go down smoothly: "We have held several discussions with Lleyton. And we felt it was necessary to have this kind of arrangement in place to ensure he was part of the team".

"We've also had productive talks with the Argentine federation and are hopeful things will go smoothly", added Lindsay.

Argentina will not benefit from the help of Guillermo Coria, still recuperating after his injury. Coria was another player whom Hewitt feared on the Buenos Aires tennis courts (literally). Nalbandian, Calleri, Chela and Acasuso are the 4 players to represent Argentina in the Davis Cup next weekend.

As for Australia, Hewitt will join Mark Philippoussis, Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley for the quarterfinals of the competition. Philippoussis will play his first Davis Cup match for Australia since 2004.
