The police in UK arrested an 18-year-old who is said to be Lizard Squad member GDKJordie, for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against PlayStation and Xbox gaming networks over the Christmas period in 2014.

The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) picked him up on Friday morning (UK time) in Boundary Street, Southport, seizing from his place several electronic devices for forensic analysis.

GDKJordie involved in swatting incidents

According to security blogger Brian Krebs, who received information from two sources close to the investigation, the individual is Jordan Cameron, also known by online aliases “Jordie,” “EvilJordie” and “GDKJordie.”

The blogger found evidence that connected Cameron to swatting and making multiple bomb threats at educational institutions across the US (Connecticut, Texas, New Jersey, Florida, Massachusetts).

It appears that someone named Matthew Tollis, who used the online moniker TCOD, was responsible for these incidents, along with other people, one of them using the nickname “Jordie” or “Jordy.”

The hacker has adopted the persona of a Chicago gang member, as it is clearly visible on his Twitter account.

In the statement from SEROCU, it is said that the individual was also arrested for swatting and threats to kill.

Swatting is a dangerous prank in the US, played on someone by having law enforcement respond to false information about a significant threat existing at the target’s location. The police reaction involves deploying tactical units armed with deadly force.

Hacker knew his identity had been exposed

Regularly recording high activity, GDKJordie’s Twitter account has now been silent for more than 24 hours, which would indicate that he is not able to communicate online anymore, probably on account of his arrest later on Friday.

Interestingly, some time before the alleged arrest, GDKJordie tweeted that he was certain that his identity had been revealed and that authorities might have already learned who he was.

“Obviously people have my dox btw, authority's probably and Idek [I don’t even know] maybe some friends online but idrc [I don’t really care],” the tweet from the hacker read. “Doxing” means exposing the full identity of someone online.

However, the Lizard Squad members expressed numerous times their carelessness regarding the fact that they would be arrested.

Two other members of the hacker outfit have been questioned by the authorities, one identified as Vinnie Omari, from UK, and the other as Julius Kivimäki, from Finland. Omari is currently on bail, while Kivimäki is also believed not to be in custody.
