Liza Minnelli (59), the talented singer who won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in 'Cabaret' (1972) has just signed in to appear in one of the episodes of the hit television drama 'Law & Order', her publicist confirmed yesterday.
The episode in which Liza is to star is called 'Masquerade' and shooting for it has already begun. It will focus on a former beauty queen, whose daughter, an aspiring beauty queen in her turn, is brutally killed on Halloween night.
The episode is inspired from real events, a murder saga that occurred in 1992 and for which an exiled pedophile took responsibility, although he was not guilty of the crime. The 'Masquerade' episode has been slated to air on NBC some time in November.
Minnelli, currently in the public eye due to the very intricate proceedings of her and her estranged husband's divorce, David Gest, has also appeared in the upcoming movie 'The OH in Ohio' (opposite Mischa Barton, Danny DeVito and Paul Rudd) and has starred in a couple of episodes in the comedy 'Arrested Development'.
