Reproducing a very large number of discs was only possible up until recently by using specialized production lines. However, the evolution of technology has dramatically changed the situation in this particular field as well, and one very good example comes from Epson.

Today, Softpedia has been invited to attend one of Epson's press events, during which the company presented a wide range of products, including here the specific model you're about to see as follows, namely the Epson Discproducer PP-100, a device that can produce up to 30 duplicates of the same disc per hour. And we're not talking just about the content here, but also about the photo printed on the disc.

Besides being able to copy 30 CDs at 40X write speed, the device is also capable of reproducing up to 13 DVDs per hour, at a 12X speed. As mentioned earlier, this thing is able to “pump out” up to 30 discs per hour (bi-directional printing/ Fine mode) or up to 45 discs per hour (bi-directional printing/ Fast mode), the actual printing resolutions varying between 1440 dpi x 720 dpi (Fast mode) and 1440 dpi x 1440 dpi (Fine mode).

As far as the ink is concerned, it's important to mention that the Epson machine uses Dye ink and offers several base colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light cyan, Light magenta, Black) which can be combined in order to obtain even more variants. Moreover, as you can actually see from the photos, the ink cartridges are quite large, allowing users to print up to 1000 discs or more (45-116 mm, continuous printing, fine mode).

The manufacturers recommend that CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL discs be used, and for printing, they recommend Epson Premium or glossy media, with an external diameter of 120 mm ± 0,3 mm, an inner diameter of 15 mm + 0,1/-0 mm, and a thickness of 1,2 mm + 0,3/-0.1 mm. The device connects to a host computer via a USB 2.0 interface and supports Windows XP SP2 (Home/Professional) and Windows 2000 SP4.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
