Feedback needed

With Kumo already dogfooded in Redmond, Microsoft has demonstrated a strong commitment to the organic growth of its search engine. However, the evolution of Live Search is not limited to the Kumo search engine tested internally by the software giant. Nathan Buggia and Brett Yount from the Live Search Webmaster Center have confirmed that major enhancements are being introduced to Live Search. The improvements end up being reflected in the way the MSNBot crawler collects data from the websites it crawls, Microsoft explains, with Buggia asking webmasters to contact the Redmond company and share their experiences in this regard.

“The Live Search development team is busy making significant improvement to the quality and depth of our search index, and these changes often affect how our crawler, MSNBot, collects data. As we test new algorithms, we invite webmasters to contact us to give us feedback on these changes, especially if you have any concerns,” Buggia says. “Live Search always encourages webmasters to use our product support escalation paths to help identify and resolve issues as quickly as possible.”

First off, the software giant is pointing webmasters to the Live Search Webmaster Center’s Crawling/Indexing Feedback and Discussion forum. Buggia indicates that, in case a new issue emerges that hasn't got a thread on the forum, Microsoft is interested in all pertinent details that can be provided. Only if Microsoft receives the right and comprehensive information will the company be able to tackle the issues reported, and provide an answer and even a resolve. Microsoft is even allowing Webmaster Center forums moderators to contact webmaster directly in the eventuality that they don't want to share their issues with additional users.

In addition, Buggia explains that webmasters can also “contact Live Search Support directly. You can use the Live Search Support form to send us your feedback. Select option Other from the form’s drop-down list and complete the rest of the form. Include as much detail as you can in the comments box on specific events, dates, and other information that will assist us in tracking down the details from our side.”
