With the advent of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) Apple managed to introduce a range of incompatibility issues with various software solutions, including Microsoft’s Live Mesh. One month after informing end users that they would come across incompatibility problems if using the Live Mesh client on the latest version of Mac OS X, Microsoft has dealt with the problem. As far as compatibility goes it is the responsibility of software developers to ensure that their products play nice with a certain platform. However, devs criticized Apple for rushing Snow Leopard to the market, giving them insufficient time to adapt their programs to the new operating system.

“A new version of the Live Mesh Mac software is available that provides support for both Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6). Leopard users are not required to install this release,” revealed a member of the Live Mesh team. “To upgrade to this new release, you will need to reinstall Live Mesh for Mac. To do so, please go here, sign in with your Live ID, and download the Mac client software from the “Devices” page.”

According to Microsoft, users who make the jump to the latest release of the Live Mesh client should see version number 0.9.4501.0. This is the build number of the Live Mesh Mac that is compatible with Snow Leopard. The Redmond company revealed that there was no added functionality in the update made available for Apple computer users running the latest cat from Cupertino. Instead, the software giant has focused on repairing the client so that it can be used with OS X Snow Leopard (10.6).

“We appreciate your patience as we worked on this fix for you and thank you for using Live Mesh. We’re working hard to create the best experience and appreciate any comments you have. Please send your feedback on how Live Mesh can be improved, or send anonymous feedback in our forums. Also, if you have a moment, please rate Live Mesh,” the Live mesh team member added.
