Mac OS X users looking to gee the latest release of the operating system from Apple and who also use Live Mesh should know that the two don’t actually mix. Microsoft has informed users that Live Mesh is currently incompatible with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6. For the time being, Mac OS X users who also want to take advantage of Live Mesh need to run version 10.5 release of Apple’s operating system, namely Leopard. Microsoft did not specify when it planned to add Live Mesh support for Mac OS X Leopard 10.6.

“With the recent Apple announcement regarding the availability of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6), we want Live Mesh Mac users to be aware the current Live Mesh Mac software is not compatible with the new OS X version (10.6). We will continue to support Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) users. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience,” a member of the Live Mesh team stated. “As always, our thanks go out to all of our supporters and early adopters of Live Mesh!”

As far as Mac OS X 10.6 is concerned, Apple is scheduled to officially launch the platform today, August 28th, 2009. Snow Leopard comes with a price tag of just $29, and is regarded by many as a mere service pack for the plain vanilla variant of Leopard. Supporting the view that Snow Leopard is just an upgrade as opposed to a major version is the small list of changes brought to the table by the Cupertino-based hardware maker.

Microsoft introduced Live Mesh to the public in the first half of 2008. Formerly codenamed Horizon, Live Mesh is a service designed to allow users to synchronize, share and remotely access information in the Cloud. The company is offering support for both Windows and Mac OS X, and the latest update to the clients came in June 2009. At that time, with Live Mesh 0.9.4014.7 Microsoft fixed issues that affected users running Windows 7, Microsoft’s latest iteration of the Windows client, which is scheduled for availability on October 22nd, 2009.
