Sony has let loose a variety of details about its PlayStation Vita and the array of games that will appear for it, and has now published the first screenshots of LittleBigPlanet’s Vita edition, which highlight the touchscreen controls that are available on the handheld platform.

While LittleBigPlanet isn’t a launch day release for the PlayStation Vita, Sony and the team at Media Molecule, who created the first two PS3 games and the PSP edition in the series, want to show off the creative platformer on the new device.

A key feature of LBP on the Vita will be the touchscreen control interface, as players can just use their fingers, instead of the analog sticks, to move objects around and create their own levels within the game. You can even perform pinch-to-zoom gestures or stretch and skew objects by using your hands.

LittleBigPlanet for the Vita is expected to arrive sometime after the release of the device in Europe and North America, which happens on February 22.
