Developers Media Molecule and United Front Games have finally revealed the first details about LittleBigPlanet Karting, the new racing game that’s going to once again feature the Play, Create, Share mantra of previous LittleBigPlanet titles.

The Media Molecule studio has already brought two LBP games on the PlayStation 3, while the franchise already made its debut on the PSP a few years ago and will soon appear on the recently released PlayStation Vita handheld console.

Now, the UK-based studio has collaborated with Canadian developer United Front Games for LittleBigPlanet Karting, a racing game that features lots of elements and characters from the regular LBP titles.

“We are delighted to announce today a new LBP collaboration with the hugely talented team at United Front Games who will be leading a new project called LittleBigPlanet Karting,” Media Molecule revealed about the partnership. “With LBP’s powerful and diverse toolset in their capable hands, LittleBigPlanet Karting is sure to be an adventure that both LBP fans and kart-racing fans alike will enjoy!”

As you can see in the screenshots and the video below, it looks like a mix between regular LittleBigPlanet titles and United Front Games’ previous project, ModNation Racers, which also featured kart racing and allowed players to create and modify their own characters, karts, and race tracks.

“Our goal with LBP Karting has been fairly simple – provide a fast-paced experience that captures the best of classic karting gameplay, married with the unbridled creativity of LBP. This new adventure will be accessible to players of all ages and have all of the variety necessary to satisfy both the hardcore and more casual players,” United Front Games revealed.

Like any LBP experience, the creation systems play an important role in the game, as the new toolbox features not just traditional LBP items and commands, but also special features that cater to the 3D world that can now be manipulated by players.

Besides the lots of modes that are present in the game, players can also modify its rules to create new competitions and challenges, which can then be shared with others, just like in regular LBP titles.

Expect to hear some more details about LittleBigPlanet Karting in the near future. Until then, check out the screenshots and video below.
