Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS) have announced their new DX-20A4PU, a redesigned version of their former success that is the Lite-On EZ-DUB drive. The external DVD-RW drives are used to feature
two extra buttons on top of the unit, which are used for disc duplication and data backup directly from the computer.
The DX-20A4PU version features a new touch on the exterior. The classic DUB and FILE buttons have been replaced with two light blue touch sensitive keys located at the front corner on top of the drive.
In the new EZ-DUB drive, the physical buttons are replaced by two touch sensitive buttons for easy operation. The light blue touch sensitive DUB and FILE buttons are located at the front corner on top of the drive. The buttons glow blue while the unit is operating and can be used as shortcuts to the most commonly used functions with most optical drives, such as duplicating and backup.
"The new EZ-DUB is still the easiest way users can quickly duplicate discs or backup computer files but its elegant exterior also adds to the overall décor of an office or workstation," says Christine Hsing, marketing manager at PLDS. "Functionally, the EZ-DUB drive uses SmartWrite technology to optimize write speed and disc quality for added time-saving operation."
The DX-20A4PU version has retained the main features of Lite-On EZ-DUB. The 20X DVD writer comes in a black and white casing, but it is more compact in size than its bigger brother.
The special stand allows the unit to be vertically mounted in order to save desktop space. Moreover, the DX-20A4PU now features a power switch on the back panel that allows the user to turn the unit off when not in use in order to save the battery if connected to a laptop.
