It is supposed to be both easy to implement and affordable

Lite-On has formally announced the E200 series of solid state drives, which are supposed to help small and medium businesses speed up their systems without having to pay too much.

Featuring the 2.5-inch form factor, they have 3.5-inch mounting Brackets, just in case there are no bays their size.

Also, they support the SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and, thanks to a Marvell controller, NAND Toggle Flash and the True Speed technology (for consistent performance), reach transfer speeds of up to 503 MB/s when reading and 256 MB/s when writing.

Meanwhile, the random read/write speeds are of up to 71,000 IOPS and 64,000 IOPS.

"With the E200 we aim to challenge the concept that SSDs are an unaffordable luxury for SMB; our aim is that smaller companies will be able to experience the increased speed and performance that a fast SSD provides," says Maarten Souren, marketing manager at Lite-On.

The traits mentioned above are the ones included in Lite-On's press release, the one that we, and others, have received from the company.

However, we have to point out that, for some reason or other, the official product page is not consistent with this information.

Although the capacities listed there are the same (80 GB and 160 GB), their respective performance numbers differ.

The former has a sequential read speed of 500 MB/s and a write speed of 120 MB/s, while the latter is rated at 510 MB/s and 240 MB/s.

What's more, the random read/write speeds reach 73,000 / 62,000 IOPS for the 160 GB drive, and 66,000 / 32,000 IOPS for the other one.

The official specifications documents are also in line with the latter source, so we'll assume that the press announcement is the wrong one.

Unfortunately, the prices have not been disclosed yet, so it isn't possible to figure out just how convenient these things are.
