While the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE is already known, what has been, until recently, hidden is the fact that the company is planning on releasing an upgraded model of the netbook, with higher storage and memory capabilities while maintaining the same overall design. The netbook is dubbed Eee PC 1005PE-H and is being listed by
fnac, a French online retailer, in black and white varieties.
The upcoming netbook runs on the same Intel Atom N450 CPU with a frequency of 1.66GHz. It features a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and has 2GB of RAM and a hard drive with a storage capacity of 320GB. Compared with it, the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE only has 1GB of memory and its hard drive only features 160GB or 250GB of storage.
In addition, while the 1005PE runs the Windows 7 Starter operating system, the 1005PE-H comes with the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Among the other specifications of the mobile computer that ASUS will be releasing are 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 10/100 Ethernet and an integrated webcam. In addition, the configuration includes a 3-in-1 card reader and runs on a six-cell battery.
As it is apparent, the features of the Eee PC 1005PE that remain unchanged are the central processor, the overall design and the keyboard. The Asus Eee PC 1005PE-H netbook computer measures 10.3 x 7 x 1.4 inches, it will supposedly come out as soon as next week and it has a price tag of 349 Euro, which is 50 Euro higher than the price of the Asus Eee PC 1005PE.
Having been listed on a French retailer's site means that availability in France is already assured, although the netbook will probably not be restricted to that area. Most likely, the product will be made available in multiple European countries, although it is still unknown when it will make it to the US.
