By means of gorgeous photo taken on their first birthday

Back in the days when she still hadn’t announced she was pregnant again, Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of singer Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley, took a lot of flack in the media for her weight. Some tabloids, unaware of her condition, even went the extra mile and said she was beginning to resemble her father, when his weight ballooned. One year later, exactly on the twins’ first birthday, Lisa Marie is showing them off to the world in the latest issue of Hello! magazine.

The photo, taken by the girls’ father, musician Michael Lockwood, shows Lisa Marie, face glowing with happiness, holding the two girls tight to her chest. It was taken in the UK, where the two girls celebrated their first birthday. However, unlike what tradition in Hollywood says, Finley and Harper did not get a big bash with A-listers bringing them presents. Instead, the family and a few close friends gathered to celebrate the happy event, just like a “normal” family would, it is being said.

Although she gave birth in California, Lisa Marie wouldn’t want the two girls to grow up in the US, which is why she’s reportedly looking for a property in the English countryside, where they would not have their childhood “corrupted” by too much media attention. “They both have such a sweetness about them that it breaks our heart. We want desperately to preserve their purity, love and trust for as long as we can before people and life cause the inevitable souring and contamination. It is incredible that we all start out so pure, so genuine, happy and trusting.” the singer tells Hello!.

In the same issue, Lisa Marie also touches upon a topic that still makes tears well up in her eyes, the death of Michael Jackson, her former husband. She has finally made peace with the thought that the King of Pop is no longer with us, she says, but it was only thanks to Lockwood that she managed to do so, as he truly stood by her through thick and thin. Of course, having such a wonderful family also helped ease the pain away, she explains.

“He has cried with me, he has left me alone to cry if that’s what I needed. I have never met a more selfless and supportive person.” Lisa Marie says of Lockwood. However, at this point in time, the focus in her life is her family, for which reason she’s chosen the colder weather in Britain. “We have found the quality of life so much more enriching and fulfilling. The civility, the culture, the people and its beauty have reawakened me and have smoothed out some of my bleak and jagged views about people and life.” the singer further explains.
