Not Fable III

It seems that Twitter is beginning to change the gaming world. Recently, it was used by a student to break the news that Lionhead was set to unveil its most recent project at E3, with the rumor indicating that the game would not be Fable III, but a totally new project.

It seems that Andrew Lindsay, who is the animation director for Lionhead, took part in a digital forum at the Swansea Metropolitan University where he is reported by a student, Adam Payne, to have said that his studio was working on a fresh intellectual property that would be officially presented at E3 this year by Peter Molyneux himself.

The student talked to GameSpot, saying that “Every now and then industry heads visit our class. Not much was said really, just that an announcement for a new game of a new franchise will be revealed. He showed off some incredible facial animation and spoke about some skin textures (put skin up to a light and the red translucent glow).”

The Twitter reveal meshes well with a recent statement made by Peter Molyneux, the boss of Lionhead. He recently delivered a presentation at the Game Developers Conference and, at one point, exclaimed “I almost said the project we were working on. That would have been disastrous!” He then went on to praise the mechanics of Portal, saying that it might be featured in one of his future games.

With Fable II launched for some time and with work on the DLC for that title proceeding smoothly, it’s clear that the company is working on a new project, but there are no details regarding it. With Lionhead thriving on hype and Molyneux keen on talking about his games, it's pretty clear that a reveal will soon be made. And the E3 event is the perfect venue to show off a new project.
