Lionel Richie is turning out to be such a caring father. His (adoptive) daughter screws up again and again and he is saying that it's OK. Maybe he is not aware of what his 25-year-old girl is doing, otherwise I cannot explain his statements.
The Commodores' ex-frontman spoke of this matter just last weekend. Check out what he said about Nicole: "She keeps apologizing to me. I told her (Nicole, that is), 'You're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing to your father at this age.'" Whoa there, that definitely does NOT add up! Let's refresh Lionel's memory a bit.
His daughter was caught by the police driving down the wrong lane on a Los Angeles freeway. That's because she was driving under the influence. When she was pulled over she admitted that she smoked pot and that she took some Vicodin before getting in the car. Later on, she denied everything and she pleaded not guilty.
Now DUI is not a very big deal, if it happens to you for the first time. But if the cops catch you drinking and driving again in less than 10 years, you're most certainly going to the pokey. Paris Hilton knows this first hand. And unfortunately for Nicole, she was busted on the same charges in 2003.
Now here's an idea for Lionel Richie. Nicole messed up really bad. She is causing you trouble, but it's not like she's still a teenager that gets drunk one night and does something silly. That' something somewhat normal for a daughter to do to her father. Crazy years for crazy kids, that's the beauty of it. But Lionel is an R&B singer known all over the world, and Nicole is his daughter. Now that daughter gets busted driving on the freeway while she's drunk and stoned. And mind you, she's not a teenager, but 25 years old.
According to Lionel Richie, that's something perfectly normal for a 25-year-old to do to her father. In that case, party on dude! Wait until my father hears about the s**t I'll do tonight.
No, that is not something a 25-year-old should do to her father. And yes, Nicole should apologize to him even when she's in jail. Well, we don't know that for sure. The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow. By all accounts, Nicole should go to jail. But she is also expecting a baby and you don't send a pregnant woman to the slammer. That may be Nicole's ace in the sleeve, but apparently, the judge in charge with the case is not very fond of such matters and will not hesitate to send Nicole to jail if she broke the law (which she did).
