A restaurant in Florida has announced that it would no longer be selling lion tacos, after receiving numerous complaints over the choice of meat.

Brad Barnett, manager at Taco Fusion in South Tampa tells WFLA that their exotic tacos have been prepared with meat acquired from an approved distributor. The animals are raised by the distributor with the intent of selling the meat to consumers.

"Our whole thought process of bringing the exotic meats to the Tampa bay area was to give people the opportunity to try different things that they normally wouldn't get to try," Barnett adds.

At $35 (€27) per serving, the lion tacos sold out and they will not be brought back. According to Gawker, the eatery also offers gator, gazelle, kangaroo, ostrich and camel meat.
