Photos of a Lion Air passenger plane that crashed off the coast of Bali have emerged online.

On Friday, April 12, a Lion Air jet ran off the runway at Ngurah Rai Airport, near Denpasar in Indonesia.

The Air Boeing 737 was carrying over 130 passengers, ABC Net Australia reports. Some of the people aboard incurred minor injuries, while the plane sled into the ocean, deploying its safety slides.

The aircraft had departed from Bandung, West Java and was landing in Ngurah Rai in Bali. No casualties were registered during the crash.

A large crack in the fuselage is clearly visible in the photos snapped by tourists in the airport, as it was locked down after the incident.

"A landing plane has overshot the runway and ended up in the water. [...] As a result, the whole airport is closed and we're stranded," a traveler from Perth tells the Herald Sun.

[Update, April 13 2013]: A previous version of this article mentioned the plane crash taking place in Mali, as our sources mentioned. The correct location is Bali, as out readers note.
