May is almost over. There's just about one more week until we'll be reaching its 30th day. Are you thinking what I am thinking? No, I wasn't thinking of swimsuits, sunbathing and hot summer days at the beach. I was referring to the world's no.1 Linux expo and conference since 1996, the Linuxtag, which will take place from Wednesday May 30 to Satruday June 2 this year. It will be held in Germany at the Berlin Expo Center under the Funkturm.
Hosted under the already well-known motto:
"Where .com meets .org", LinuxTag is the initiative of the non-profit LinuxTag Association since 1996 and organized by Messe Berlin. It is open to everyone interested and focuses on different issues addressed to all kind of attendees.
Therefore, this year for example there will be debated topics such as "Virtualization between technology and management" or "Web 2.0, AJAX and Mash-Ups: hype or future?" addressed to more experienced users or developers but also topics like "New with Linux: How to find my way into the Open Source community?", for the newly initiated ones.
Highlights for 2007:- subject tracks on Linux distributions
- LPI-exams, extensive conference program for users and experts
- tutorials
- career lounge
- exhibition with leading vendors of Linux products and services as well as free projects
- project workshops.
LinuxTag opens its gates for all international visitors, almost half of the conferences being held in English. Just for the record, I can mention that the first such event that took place in 1996 counted almost 70 attendants, but the last time, there were more than 7000 people. A special social event during the LinuxTag schedule will be the LinuxNacht which will gather visitors, exhibitors and speakers on the second evening of the fair at the Umspannwerk. To find out more information on the LinuxTag event you can consult its official
website.
