Ben Hutchings has announced the immediate availability for download of Linux kernel 3.2.60 LTS (Long Term Support).

As usual, Linux kernel 3.2.60 LTS brings a fair amount of changes and improvements, even though this is a fairly old version. This is an LTS release, which means that it's still being updated long after the launch.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.2.60 kernel. All users of the 3.2 kernel series should upgrade.”

“The updated 3.2.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.2.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git,” said Ben Hutchings in the official announcement.

Users of the Linux kernel 3.2.x branch are urged to update to the new version as soon as possible. It's also a good idea to check newer kernel branches, if the repositories used by your distribution have them.

For example, Linus Torvalds has just released the 3.15 version of the kernel and it's likely that the repositories from all the major distros will be featuring it soon.

Check the official announcement for more detals about this release. You can download Linux kernel 3.2.60 LTS right now from Softpedia. Please keep in mind that this is the source and that you will need to compile it.
