Clement Lefebvre announced last evening, April 24th, the immediate availability for download of the final and stable version of Linux Mint Debian Edition 201204.

Linux Mint Debian Edition 201204 incorporates three of the best and popular desktop environments available at the moment for the Linux platform: the beautiful and innovative Cinnamon 1.4, the functional and traditional MATE 1.2 and the rock-solid and lightweight Xfce 4.8.

Linux Mint Debian Edition 201204 is distributed as two different Live DVD ISO images, one with both the MATE/Cinnamon desktop environments, and the other one with the Xfce desktop environment.

The MDM login manager is used on Linux Mint Debian Edition 201204, which is actually based on GDM 2.20, brining features like theme-ability, remote login, fast-user switching, configuration tools, and language selection.

Highlights of Linux Mint Debian Edition 201204:

· Linux kernel 3.2;
· MATE 1.2;
· Cinnamon 1.4;
· Xfce 4.8;
· MDM login manager;
· Yahoo search engine;
· Includes Update Pack 4;
· Hybrid ISO images.

About Linux Mint and LMDE

Linux Mint is and will always be an elegant, easy-to-use, up-to-date, 100% free and comfortable Linux operating system based on the very popular Ubuntu OS.

It offers paid commercial support to companies and individuals. Also, free community support is available from the forums and the IRC channel.

Linux Mint Debian Edition is not compatible with the Ubuntu-based Linux Mint distributions, but it is 100% compatible with the software repositories designed for Debian Squeeze or Debian Testing.

LMDE is a semi-rolling operating system, which means that "Update Packs" are provided frequently, containing regressions, bugfixes and improvements from Debian Testing or Debian Unstable.

This is what you call a Distro. what Ubuntu tries and fails to be!. MATE and Xfce are my favorite linux desktop environments, keep up the good work clem and the mint team. And thanks for actually listening to what the people want.

I am using this operating system right now, and I must say - it is going to live on my computer for a very, very long time. As Linux Mint says, 'you never have to reinstall it.' Updates come to *you*, something I look forward to.

Mate is fabulous in this edition, it is so very reminiscent of Gnome 2 (with little exception) that I don't miss the old opsys at all. The one thing I wish I could do is shut this touchpad off when the mouse is plugged in. Other than that - heaven sent@!
