Linux Mint ROCKS!!! detects all my hardware and puts them to work right away. Version 8 has a lot of improvements since version 7 and the GUI is even prettier and crispier. Software Manager, really is a lot better now and it has been updated with the latest software available. If you plan to use windows software, I recommend you install "Wine Outdoors"...since mint can read my alternate hard drive(s), which by the way is another thing that I can do without a hassle, all it needs is my root password to let me in and run my windows portable programs from there and it runs it like a charm!!!.

Give it a try, if you're a newcomer and you like windows like I do, you will find that the difference between Mint and Windows, is not really that big of a deal, Mint is easy to use...trust me, and I don't know crap about Linux (technically). I've been a fan of Linux Mint since version 5 and in every upgrade keeps getting better and better!! and I'm looking forward to future releases!! oh yes baby!! MINT FOREVER!!

does this support or more precisely provide mp3 and such audio codecs. thats the biggest drawback i have seen in ubuntu, mandriva etc. also it is very tough for a -i dont kno anything about linux- person like me to get sufficient files to run those.
