Linux Mint 3.0 KDE Edition Beta Released

The Linux Mint team has released last night the KDE Edition (beta) of their successful Linux operating system, Linux Mint 3.0 (codename Cassandra). This KDE Edition was created by and for the Linux Mint community and it's based on Bianca-KDE but compatible with all Feisty repositories. Highlights of this release include:

■ Linux kernel 2.6.20-15
■ KDE 3.5.6
■ Beryl 0.2.1

Here are some of the most interesting applications you'll find in this edition:

■ OpenOffice 2.2.0
■ Firefox 2.0.0.4
■ Thunderbird 1.5.0.12 (version 2.0 is available in the Software Portal)
■ Sunbird 0.6a1
■ Dolphin 0.8.1
■ Tasty Menu 0.8.2
■ Amarok 1.4.6
■ K3B 1.0
■ K9Copy 1.1.0
■ Scribus 1.2.5
■ KMyMoney 0.8.5

After test driving the beta version, and trying all other versions of Mint, I must conclude that this will no doubt win over previous Windows users once they try it. KDE is much more user friendly and I believe once the final version is out it will simply blow you away.
