The Live ISO images for the final version of Linux Mint 17 “Qiana” have been made available for download for both the Cinnamon and the MATE flavors.

The new Linux Mint 17 “Qiana” is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and the first flavors released are Cinnamon and MATE, which is the norm for this kind of launches.

It's important to note right from the start that the ISOs for the two versions of Linux Mint 17 usually arrive before the official announcement, which is not too far off. Rest assured, these are the official images from the Linux Mint Team.

The Linux Mint developers have made some pretty interesting statements prior to this release. From now on, all the Mint versions will be based only on Ubuntu LTS, which means that the next releases will share the same base.

Also, Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon is based on Cinnamon 2.2 and it comes with numerous improvements and new features. Linux Mint 17 MATE is based on MATE 1.8, and it also has the latest features and fixes from that branch.

You can download Linux Mint 17 “Qiana” right now from Softpedia, and be sure to check back later for the official announcement.
