The final version of Linux Mint 17 has arrived and the Cinnamon flavor is the first one to make an appearance. Now it’s the time to take a closer look at this operating system and see some of the new features in a short screenshot tour.

Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" Cinnamon is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and its developers have decided that, from now on, all the future Mint versions will only use long-term support Ubuntu releases. This is actually good news for the users of this operating system, because it means that the support for the distro will end in 2019.

Cinnamon 2.2 has been used for Linux Mint 17 and all the improvements and features that come with this version of the desktop environment have been implemented as well. For example, the graphical interface for System Settings is now looking a lot better, the settings for Power Management have been improved, and the Hot Corners and snapping features have been improved as well.

The window manager has also received GTK Client Side Decorations, although the developers have warned people not to overuse this feature because not all the applications work well with it.
