The Linux Mint developers have announced that the OEM edition of their latest “Qiana” release is now out and ready for download.

The Linux Mint 17 “Qiana” launch has been a success for both the MATE and Cinnamon flavors. The developers are now putting forward OEM images, for whoever wants to download them.

“OEM images are for computer vendors and manufacturers. They allow Linux Mint to be ‘pre-installed’ on a machine which is then used by another person than the one who performed the installation. After an OEM installation, the computer is set in such a way that the next reboot features a small setup screen where the new user/customer has the ability to choose his/her username, password, keyboard layout and locale,” reads the announcement.

This is not much different from the initial releases, but even some people might find a use for it, not only the computer vendors. We have already put together a screenshot tour for the MATE and the Cinnamon flavors, if you want to check them out.

You can also see what improvements and new features have been implemented by the developers and you can download the official OEM images for both versions from the official servers.
