In a recent interview for the Linux User & Developer magazine, Clement Lefebvre, revealed some of the goals for the next major release of the Linux Mint operating system.

When asked by the Linux User & Developer magazine reporter whether the upcoming Linux Mint 16 will include the Cinnamon 2.0 desktop environment, Clement Lefebvre answered yes, revealing that this is definitely on their to-do list.

However, the most important part of the interview is the fact that the upcoming Cinnamon 2.0 desktop environment will be totally revamped, and that it won't need GNOME anymore.

In the interview, Clement Lefebvre also explains some aspects regarding Canonical's decision to stay with GNOME 3.6, why Cinnarch become Antegros, and why Manjaro dropped their Cinnamon spin. All of this and much more can be found in the next issue of the Linux User & Developer magazine.
