Maya a.k.a. Linux Mint 13 was finally published on May 23rd, by its developer, Clement Lefebvre.

The brand-new Linux Mint 13 operating system is dubbed Maya, it is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) and it is powered by Linux kernel 3.2.

Maya is the first release of the Linux Mint operating system to be distributed as two separate editions, one with the Cinnamon desktop environment (GNOME 3 fork) and the other one with the MATE desktop environment (GNOME 2 fork).

Linux Mint 13 (Maya) is a LTS (Long Term Support) distribution, supported with patches and security updates for 5 years, until April 2017.
