Linux Mint 12, a Linux distribution that is designed to work on most modern systems, will see the light on day sometime in November.

Linux Mint will have GNOME 3 for the first time, after so many releases with th GNOME 2 desktop environment.

Apparently, when Linux Mint 11 was launched, it was to early to implement GNOME 3, especially after the pressure of the community.

According to the developers of Linux Mint 12, GNOME 3.2 is now more mature, which means that the development has started from cratch and this process will take time and span across multiple releases.

GNOME 2 will still be supported and most probably there will be two separate editions,  one for GNOME 2.32 and one for GNOME 3.2.
