A security vulnerability that was discovered in the Linux kernel affecting the Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system, was announced by Canonical.

This is the kernel vulnerability found in the Linux kernel packages: CVE-2013-0216, CVE-2013-0217, CVE-2013-0228, CVE-2013-0268, CVE-2013-0311, CVE-2013-0349, and CVE-2013-1773. Several security issues have been fixed in the kernel.

For example, a failure to validate input was discovered in the Linux kernel's Xen netback (network backend) driver. A user in a guest OS may exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service to the guest OS and other guest domains.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the linux-image-3.0.0-32 (3.0.0-32.50).

Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!

ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change, the kernel packages have a new version number, which will force you to reinstall and recompile all third-party kernel modules you might have installed. Moreover, if you use the linux-restricted-modules package, you have to update it as well to get modules that work with the new Linux kernel version.
