Users must update their kernels as soon as possible

After having announced the release of Linux kernel 4.0.2 and Linux kernel 3.19.7, Greg Kroah-Hartman was happy to introduce a new maintenance version of the LTS (Long Term Support) Linux kernel 3.14, which means that all users of 3.14 kernel series must upgrade immediately.

According to the appended shortlog, Linux kernel 3.14.41 LTS is here to fix issues in the ARM, ARM64, PowerPC, Xtensa, x86, c6x, MIPS, Unicore, and SPARC architectures, address various problems discovered in the Btrfs and EXT4 file systems, as well as to repair networking (IPv4) and sound issues.

As expected, Linux kernel 3.14.41 LTS comes with numerous updated drivers, especially for ACPI, USB, Bluetooth, GPIO, MTD, Memory Stick, MD, GPU (Radeon and Intel i915), I2C, SCSI, Ethernet (Intel e1000), Wireless (rtl8192cu, wl18xx), InfiniBand, CLK, and SPI.

"I'm announcing the release of the 3.14.41 kernel. All users of the 3.14 kernel series must upgrade," says Greg Kroah-Hartman. "The updated 3.14.y git tree can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary."

All users of 3.14 kernel series are urged to update

As usual, Greg Kroah-Hartman advises all users of the 3.14 kernel series to update to the Linux kernel 3.14.41 LTS version as soon as possible. Of course, the announcement is mostly important for people who are associated with the development of Linux kernel-based operating systems.

You can download Linux kernel 3.14.41 LTS right now via Softpedia or directly from the kernel.org website, but if you have zero knowledge of compiling a kernel, we strongly recommend that you wait for your distribution vendor to update the kernel packages.
