Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced the immediate availability for download of Linux kernel 3.10.27, which brings a fair amount of changes and fixes.

The new maintenance version of the 3.10.x branch has been released but unlike the previous build, this is a just more modest release.

As usual, these point release versions of the Linux kernel don't bring anything major and mostly comprise driver updates and various fixes. This should not stop you from upgrading to the new build.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.10.27 kernel. All users of the 3.10 kernel series must upgrade.”

“The updated 3.10.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.10.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git,” Greg Kroah-Hartman said in the email announcement.

Highlights of Linux kernel 3.10.27:

• The MDMA0 clock number has been fixed (ARM: dts: exynos5250); • CLK_IGNORE_UNUSED flag has been added for the sysreg clock; • napi structures have been deleted from netdev before releasing memory • A race on toggling cfs_bandwidth_used has been fixed; • Reduce buffer size for vpd request (SCSI: sd); • The value of maxattr has been fixed (net: drop_monitor); • Use spin_lock_bh() in br_multicast_set_hash_max (bridge); • The send path has been fixed when running with proto == 0 (packet); • The access to uninitialized buffer in IRC NAT helper has been fixed (netfilter: nf_nat); • The header ops passthru is now working correctly when doing TX VLAN offload; • Missing TXQ unlock and OOPS have been fixed; • X86_FEATURE_APERFMPERF has been added to cpu match parameters; • Move "bufferable MMPDU" check to fix AP mode scan (mac80211).

Users of the Linux kernel 3.10.x branch are urged to update to the new version as soon as possible. More details about the changes in this branch of the kernel can be found in the official announcement. Download Linux Kernel 3.10.27 right now from Softpedia.
