Greg Kroah-Hartman announced the immediate availability for download of Linux kernel 3.0.79 LTS.

This is a very small update for the 3.0.x branch of Linux kernel, with just a handful of commits and changes.

Highlights of Linux kernel 3.0.79 LTS:

• A possible buffer overflow, that occurred during a field unit read operation, has been fixed; • A setting of the multicast filter has been fixed; • A fix has been implemented for a deadlock when using automatic split-brain-recovery.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.0.79 kernel. All users of the 3.0 kernel series should upgrade.

“The updated 3.0.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.0.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git,” said Greg Kroah-Hartman in the email announcement.

Users of the Linux kernel 3.0.x branch are urged to update to the new version as soon as possible in order to fix any issues.
