According to maintainer Willy Tarreau, the Linux kernel 2.4 branch has reached End of Life status, after a 15-month warning period.

Linux kernel 2.4 branch was supposed to go EOL (End of Life) in December 2011, but the break-in from last year put those plans on hold.

According to the maintainer, some users have asked for access to a Linux kernel 2.4 tree to pick for some fixes. "After discussing with several of them, it appears that they're not really interested in releases, rather just in having a place where fixes are centralized and that the git tree is perfect for this. So I revived the git tree in my account and will probably push a patch there once in a while if people ask for this, but with no guarantees”, said Willy Tarreau in an official mailing list message.
