Linux From Scratch 7.0 Released

Bruce Dubbs, an editor within The Linux From Scratch community, has announced that LFS has reached version 7.0.

LFS or Linux From Scratch is a project that provides you with step-by-step instructions for building your own custom Linux system, entirely from source code.

Some changes were implemented in LFS 7.0, but the most important was made in this version of the book by adding a new top level directory, /run.

This particular directory has a tmpfs mounted and is used by programs like udev to store runtime information. Also, the bootscripts have also been modified to place supporting scripts in /lib/services.

Changes to the book also include editorial work on the explanatory material, improving both the clarity and accuracy of the text, as stated in the official announcement.
