The LinkedIn Corporation has rolled out an updated version of its iOS application with support for the iPad’s big 10-inch screen, including the Retina-display found on the third-generation tablet computer.

According to LinkedIn Corp., the iOS version of their service lets you “get on-the-go access to your professional network. Find and connect with more than 150M members worldwide, read the latest industry news, keep up-to-date with your groups, and share content with your network from anywhere,” reads the description.

The change-log for version 5.0 says “LinkedIn is now available on the iPad”.

It continues mentioning optimizations for the third-gen iPad’s Retina display, a new calendar feature that lets you see LinkedIn profile information for people you're meeting with, and a redesigned Updates view lets you stay up-to-date with connections, industry news, groups, and more.

LinkedIn 5.0 iOS is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later. The app is universal, meaning you download once for both iPhone and iPad.

For those who aren’t very familiar with the service, LinkedIn is a business-centric social networking site founded and released to the public about a decade ago.

One purpose of the service is to allow registrants to maintain a list of contact details of the people they do business with, called Connections.

Geared towards professionals, LinkedIn reports more than 150 million registered users in more than 200 countries and territories as of 9 February 2012.

The site is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Czech and Polish, and has 21.4 million unique U.S. visitors and 47.6 million globally per month, according to Quantcast estimates.

LinkedIn's CEO is Jeff Weiner, who was a Yahoo! Inc. executive.
