LinkedIn has been growing at a steady pace and its focus on the professional market helped it win over quite a large number of users. These users provide the company with a lot of data and the latest effort to tap into that and create a useful feature is Career Explorer, a tool which allows students to see what their career path may be as well as get help and guidance.

The tool is aimed squarely at college students and plots career alternatives based on the paths other users have taken.

The idea is to show students the way to success and even provide them with job opportunities.

"Career Explorer is the latest example of how we make that possible by providing one of our fastest growing demographics, students and recent college graduates, unique and valuable insights enabling them to develop the optimal career path," Jeff Weiner, chief executive officer of LinkedIn, said.

"We're excited to be launching this product in partnership with PwC, one of the largest and most forward thinking recruiters of new graduates," he added.

Students can choose from a number of possible paths laid out for them. They can also save the ones that interest them and explore the opportunities but also the requirements each offer.

For each step, users will be able to see what the education and experience requirements are. They are also directed towards users that can help them in their career path.

Interestingly, users can also seek job opportunities that may be relevant to their careers and LinkedIn even shows you the people that may be able to help you secure that position.

The tool is only available for 60 schools in the US for now, but LinkedIn says that it plans to expand it and launch it in other places as well. Where available, users will be able to see the Career Explorer link under the Jobs menu.
