The hectic schedules have taken a toll on the relationship

Skier Lindsey Vonn and golfer Tiger Woods are back on the market after almost 3 years as a couple. News of the split comes via Vonn’s official Facebook page: she credits their busy schedules for the breakup.

You can see her brief, PR-approved announcement below. The video under it is an appearance Vonn made on Seth Meyers on April 21, when she talked about Tiger, revealed she really didn’t like golf and offered exactly zero signs of trouble in paradise.

Lindsey and Tiger are done

The first rumors that Vonn and Woods were dating starting making the rounds in early 2013. At the time, she would have been his first serious relationship after the nasty divorce from Elin Nordegren, which uncovered a pattern of infidelity and lies on his part that nearly cost him his career.

When Lindsey was injured in the Alpine World Championships in Schladming, Tiger flew to Austria and scooped her up with his private jet, which further fueled romance rumors.

For some time after that, they continued to deny they were romantically involved, saying they were just very good friends. In March that same year, Lindsay and Tiger came out as a couple in a statement on her Facebook, complete with several loving portraits of the two. One of them is also attached to this article.

What starts on Facebook must end on Facebook as well: Lindsey confirmed the relationship on social media, and she’s now delivering the last blow to it here too.

A drama-free breakup

As you can see from her message, there is no bad blood between her and Tiger. She claims their busy lives made it impossible for them to stay together, but they remain friends and will always share the beautiful memories they created.

Moreover, Lindsey adds: Tiger and his family, meaning his children with Elin, with whom she got to spend a lot of time during these 3 years, will remain a part of her life.

If the breakup message hasn’t been written by a PR team, it was definitely approved by one: the wording is just what we’ve come to expect from celebrities in showbiz, so this is a clear move to get ahead of the tabloid press.

By acknowledging the breakup before rumors about “trouble in paradise” get out in the tabloids, Lindsey and Tiger are clearly hoping to discourage any kind of speculation on their love life - and what went wrong between them.
