It's been months now that rumor about Lindsay Lohan boozing has been floating around but, each time some newspaper or tabloid wrote about it, her publicist was always ready to infirm it, claiming the world was 'basically mean' to her, making up stories and publishing lies.
Last December, Lindsay's mother put her foot in her mouth big time during a radio interview by saying that her daughter had been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meeting for almost a year and talking about her personal life. The same day, Lindsay was pressured into admitting that she had an alcohol-related problem and confirmed that what her mother had said was true.
Two weeks later, the actress told 'People' magazine that she hadn't had a drink in seven days. It was at about that time that she began to be seen hitting the party circuit even harder than in the past, always carrying in her hand some energy drink or a bottle of water. It was exactly this that which made the tabloids speculate that she was not off the booze but only trying to hide her bad habit from the world.
'Sources say 20-odd friends were shuffling in and out of Lohan's apartment in L.A. on Wednesday night when she called in sick with the flu to the set of "I Know Who Killed Me" - which will halt production until she's recovered. Her visitors "were not there to bring her chicken soup", a source said. Another spy said she was continuing the "constant party she started on New Year's". While celebrating in Miami, Lohan wouldn't allow bottles of liquor near her where they could be photographed - but PageSix received eyewitness accounts of Lohan drinking vodka out of water bottles.', PageSix wrote a couple of days ago, after Lindsay checked into the hospital to undergo appendectomy.
It turns out that the rumor was true after all. Late last night, Lindsay's spokesperson, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, issued a statement on behalf of the actress and announced that she went into rehab, at the posh Wonderland Center in Los Angeles. 'I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health. I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time.', were the words with which Lohan let the world know that there would be no more alcohol drinking from now on.
It's kinda like in the 'Trainspotting' tagline: 'Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a starter home. Choose dental insurance, leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose your future.' Without being too philosophical, we can say that Lindsay Lohan chose life. All the best to her!
