Super Bowl and Saturday Night Live made Betty White one of the biggest comedic stars of today, so only the latter should also work some magic for Lindsay Lohan. She's been confirmed as host for a March episode.

SNL remains one of the most popular shows of its kind, so landing the job could translate into a major career boost for the troubled actress, who has been struggling with work lately.

As her personal life and, above all, her brush-offs with the law, took center stage, Lohan stopped receiving movie offers and her once-promising career slumped.

Now, Us Weekly reports that she's getting a much needed second chance, by being asked to host Saturday Night Live.

“She may not be landing big screen roles at the moment, but Lindsay Lohan has just nabbed a major gig!” the celebrity publication says.

“On March 3, the 25-year-old will make her return to Saturday Night Live where she will host for the evening. Jack White will be the musical guest. This will be Lohan’s fourth time on the NBC late night show – her first since 2006,” Us further says.

“The SNL producers should have a ton of material to work with, being that Lohan has been through a lot since she last hit the stage in NYC’s Rockefeller Center,” adds the same media outlet.

While celebrity bloggers have already rushed to say that Lindsay must have been desperate to land such an important gig because of her failing career, TMZ reports that this was actually her idea.

She wasn't desperate for a job but she was dying to remind people that she was “an actress, not a defendant,” just waiting for the right time to do so, says the latter e-zine.

She reached out to the SNL producer to ask him to keep her in mind for a future collaboration and, after some discussions, they eventually agreed on a date: March 3.
