Another classic is being remade for today’s younger audiences: a remake after Stephen King’s “Carrie” is in the works and, according to reports making the rounds online, Lindsay Lohan is “dying” to land the leading part.

A few days ago, Entertainment Weekly caught up with King and, as expected, asked him about the surge in interest in his works, including “Carrie,” “IT” and “The Stand,” all of which may be getting the remake treatment.

Personally, King doesn’t see the purpose of coming out with a new movie on the same story if the first one, the original, was so good, which is probably how many fans feel as well.

Sadly, he can’t offer confirmation or denial of the “Carrie” remake.

“I’ve heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. Who knows if it will happen?” he tells EW.

“The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not Casablanca, or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book,” King adds.

“Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White… hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast,” he says.

In other words, he’s not saying Lindsay would be a bad choice for the role. In fact, up next, he says quite the contrary to that, even adding that he too could jump on board the new project.

“I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg,” he says.

On the other hand, Lindsay is reportedly thrilled about the simple fact that her name is being thrown around in the same sentence as “the Carrie remake.”

TMZ claims to have it on good authority (namely, from some unnamed friends of hers) that she’s “dying” to land the part, being convinced that the chance to work with King himself would be “totally epic.”
