Channel 4 has already announced that “Big Brother” UK will not be renewed for another season once the one scheduled for 2010 ends, since time has come for the network to focus on another project. The same goes for the “Celebrity” version of the show. Speculation has it poor ratings had a lot to do with the cancellation, ratings that might actually receive one final boost by bringing Lindsay Lohan on board, as The Sun informs.

Lohan is known for her sometimes erratic actions. This, together with her larger-than-life, public persona could actually work to make Big Brother go out with a bang, in the sense it might score more viewers than previous seasons. Negotiations are now ongoing to convince the freckled star that doing the reality show could also be a favorable push for her career as well, sources say.

“Fingers crossed on this one – Big Brother chiefs are in talks with wild child Lindsay Lohan about next year’s last ever Celeb BB. Our South-East Asian spies (of course!) report that producers from Endemol were discussing the proposal with LiLo in Singapore this week. The blonde nightmare is in the country to host a string of high-profile pop gigs. Bosses are hoping to snag some top stars for January’s show, which will be the last of the franchise ever on Channel 4. Off-the-wall LiLo – famous for her diva-like demands – would certainly be telly gold.” The Sun writes.

While the fact that Lohan’s most recent films have all failed to generate any kind of interest and that her reputation as an actress is taking hit after hit might work in favor of Channel 4, the star can still command impressive paychecks for unrelated / promo work, several US media outlets point out. What this means is that, if the network and the producers really want Lindsay on board, they will have to be willing to pay whatever amount she’s asking – and it’s precisely here that a first obstacle might be encountered.

Nevertheless, as of now, this is nothing but a rumor, as neither Channel 4 nor Lohan has yet made any statement on a possible appearance on “Celebrity Big Brother.” Keep an eye on this space for more on this.
