Lindsay Lohan's in rehab, and according to recent press reports, the teen princess is cleaning toilets in some luxury facility somewhere in Utah. Well, if it puts her back on track then… go, Lindsay! But now, scandal hits again. Lindsay's getting sued by one of the passengers that were in the car she allegedly chased right before she was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence with a suspended license and felony cocaine possession on July 24th in Santa Monica.
The woman who sues Lindsay is called Tracie Rice. In the early hours of that morning, she was in the car in question, together with Michelle Peck, who is apparently the mother of Lindsay's former assistant when the big SUV which Lohan was driving pulled up close to them and, according to their statements, "made a corresponding aggressive move in an effort to block their escape" every time driver Peck tried to get away. The whole event got even more frightening when a man jumped down from the SUV and ran towards the car in which the two women thought they were being carjacked. They called 911 and drove into the parking lot of the Santa Monica Civic Center, near police headquarters, where "police officers approached all of them with guns drawn, increasing plaintiff's emotional distress" says the suit.
Now that definitely doesn't sound like a walk in the park for Peck and Rice, who had no idea that Lohan was driving the SUV. Rice has sued Lohan for assault, negligence and intentional affliction of emotional distress. And while I'm not exactly sure this is about more than just Lohan's money, it has to be said that it was not one of Lindsay's most clever moves. Rice stated: "Reluctantly, I have decided to bring a civil action against Ms. Lohan for the enormous damage she has done to me by her conduct that evening. Her actions showed a complete disregard for my safety and well-being and that of the entire community". Well, as I said before, I'm not sure about the 'reluctantly' part, but I agree Lindsay has to understand the seriousness of her actions somehow.
There is a different side to the story, but it sounds a little far-fetched under the circumstances, especially since there is evidence supporting Rice's claim, including the 911 tape that was released to the public a short while ago. Following the incident, Lohan has claimed that Peck was "hysterical and deranged" and that she had in fact tried to run Lohan over when the cars pulled into the parking lot. We're all looking forward to the end of August to see what the new, 'rehabed' version of Lohan has to say in her defense.
