She may be having serious issues headlining a film or getting a desired movie role, but Lindsay Lohan still sells. Her special Playboy issue is literally flying off the shelves, despite reports to the contrary, it has emerged.

Plagued by bad omens from the start, including reports that media mogul Hugh Hefner wasn't pleased with the result and asked for a re-shoot, and the unfortunate leak, the Lohan issue seemed unlikely to make a splash.

It got a rushed release shortly after the leak and, in its first day at newsstands, literally failed to make an impression – but all this has changed now, CNN informs.

The Lindsay Lohan issue is a best-seller.

On Sunday, newsstands in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Atlanta were sold out and were expecting new issues to be delivered the next day.

The same happened all over the country, with sellers asking for more issues to be sent their way to meet demand.

The Hef is understandably pleased with the reception the issue is getting, saying on Twitter, “The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records.”

“A Playboy spokesman would not give sales numbers, but the official did say it was selling 'very well',” CNN further writes.

As we also noted at the time of the leak, Hefner's biggest fear was that it might lower interest in the highly anticipated pictorial so much that paying Lohan $1 million (€719,476) for it would turn out to be one of the worst business decisions of his career.

To minimize the damage, Hefner released it for the online version of the magazine just hours after it surfaced on the Internet on celebrity blogs – the print issue became available at newsstands this past Friday.

All in all, those who wanted Lohan to fail have just been proven wrong: the troubled actress can still command massive interest from the public.
