Director says she also came up with the idea, to show that “she gets it”

“People forget Lindsay Lohan’s, like, a good actress. There’s so much attention [to everything she does], but... you forget this girl has really good comic timing.” director Eric Appel tells Us Magazine about the Funny or Die video that Lohan did, in which she spoofs herself. Moreover, it is precisely this attention to everything else in Lindsay’s life that is the subject of the mock lonely hearts ad that is causing a frenzy on the Internet, the director further explains.

In the video, Lindsay speaks of everything that has kept her busy on a personal level over the past year, including her DUI, car crashes, her affair with Samantha Ronson and her partying ways, while stressing that she’s looking for real love. Director Appel, whom Lindsay sought out specifically for this purpose, is now saying that she came up with the idea for the spoof as well, pointing out that it was her own way of showing the world that “she gets it.”

“She wanted to do a Funny or Die video with all the stuff that everyone’s saying. She wanted to respond to it in a funny way, show that she gets it.” Appel says for the aforementioned mag. “She came up with the stuff about being a threat to all security guards - she improvised while doing it. She threw in a bunch of fun, funny stuff. She came in, did her thing, was really professional.” he adds.

Celebrities doing Funny or Die videos is not exactly a novelty - but, so far, few dared take on their own public personas in them. Lindsay Lohan is the exception to that, approaching topics from her antics in public to the fact that her acting career has been stagnating for quite some time and she is no longer regarded as a real actress by the critics and public alike.

“I’m looking for a compatible mate who likes a night out on the town - as long as he or she is driving of course - likes ankle-monitoring bracelets and doesn’t have family members quick to issue restraining orders. So if you think you can handle a redhead with a little bit of sass, and by that I mean a red-head that’s totally crazy - I mean don’t pretend like you don’t know about me, we’ve all read about it - will crash a few parties, a car or two but at the end of the day I promise I never lose my Google hits - just my underwear.” Lohan says in the video.
