When Lindsay Lohan moved to New York and left Los Angeles behind, she claimed her decision had a lot to do with her desire to lead a more private life, but Radar Online has already tied it to her inability to make rent.

Though she made a lot of money with what was supposed to be her comeback vehicle, “Liz & Dick,” the Lifetime Elizabeth Taylor biopic, Lindsay has been living on a much grander scale that she can afford.

She is in debt to the IRS and can no longer afford to pay rent on her Los Angeles home, so she moved back in with her mother in New York, the aforementioned publication says citing an unnamed but reliable source.

“Lindsay is being forced to live at home with Dina because she can’t afford any other options at the moment… Lindsay is flat-out broke and can’t even afford to rent a two-bedroom apartment in North Hollywood,” says an insider.

“There’s simply no way she would pass a credit check right now, and even if she could she wouldn’t be able to muster up a security deposit, let alone meet the rent every month. Lindsay’s been telling everyone that she moved to New York because she was sick of Los Angeles. But that’s just not true, she would love to move back west, but she can’t afford to!” the source adds.

To make matters even worse, the insider further says, Lindsay is also pretty much friend-less now in LA because she used and discarded whoever wanted to help her at some point in her life, so now she has no one to turn to for a loan.

Just the other day, for instance, reports online claimed that she’d begged Lady Gaga to lend her some money, but the singer refused – moreover, she had her people tell Lindsay no, because she didn’t want to do it in person.

Earlier this week, Lohan was in court for a hearing part of an ongoing case against her, in which she stands accused of lying to police after crashing her car. If she’s found guilty, she could have her probation revoked and be sentenced to jail.
