Though she was initially supposed to spend an estimated 90 days as an inpatient at the UCLA Medical Center, Lindsay Lohan has walked out of rehab just hours ago, which literally makes her a free woman. She’s not out of the woods completely, though,
TMZ reports, for she will continue to receive treatment for a string of supposed drug and alcohol problems, as well as emotional issues.
Lindsay has spent the past several weeks either in jail or in rehab, following parole violation from two separate drunk and driving arrests, one of which resulted in her being detained with cocaine in her possession.
Lohan served no more than 14 days at the Lynwood correctional facility, from which she
was released quietly and shipped straight to rehab, as per court orders. She was believed to remain in rehab for about 3 months.
However, doctors seem to have decided that her problems had significantly improved, therefore she no longer needed to remain on the premises, qualifying as an outpatient from hereon.
“Lindsay Lohan has been released from the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital... TMZ has confirmed. Lindsay was released after 23 days at the Hospital. Lindsay will receive outpatient care for the foreseeable future,” TMZ writes.
Doctors treating the actress were adamant they had no reason to keep her in rehab for any longer, the same media outlet has learned.
“We’re told the doctors at UCLA were very clear with Judge Elden Fox... they felt Lindsay should be released from the facility immediately, and the judge saw it their way,” TMZ says.
“Judge Marsha Revel had previously ordered Lindsay to spend 90 days at UCLA. A court hearing is scheduled tomorrow, although we’ve learned Lindsay will not be there,” the e-zine further says.
As of now, neither Lindsay nor her
mother Dina has yet made any comment regarding the early release, nor about their plans for the future – and whether Lindsay is truly considering moving out of LA in order to get her life (and her career) back on track.
Nevertheless, word in the US glossies has it that the actress is extremely upset at having to pay for her rehab stay
out of her own pocket and that she’s trying to find a legal way to make taxpayers foot the bill.
