14 DAY TRIAL // Coming to put an end to months of speculation about whether Lindsay Lohan’s drastic weight loss was due to an addiction either to alcohol or drugs, her own father, Michael Lohan, tells Radar Online that his daughter is hooked on prescription pills. Michael also claims he’s speaking out now to the media because he feels an intervention must be staged for Lindsay, before she ends up like Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, or DJ AM.
His daughter is no longer the person he knew while he was still married to his now-ex wife Dina Lohan, Michael reveals. Lindsay is abusing prescription drugs and they are not allowing her to be herself, slowly killing her personality and, at the same time, her career. The many “enablers” she has surrounded herself with in recent years don’t want him to help Lindsay, he further says, which is why he chose to make the addiction public in the media.
“I’m going to get her off the prescription drugs that she’s on. I hate it when people talk about illegal drug abuse... because it’s not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson. […] The Lindsay Lohan I lived with when I was married was a focused, intelligent, gifted girl that needed no prescription medication, no assistance from a therapist. Whoever the people are that came into her life and convinced her otherwise should be thrown in jail, because they’re the same type of people who are responsible for the deaths of Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson and DJ AM.” Michael Lohan explains for Radar.
According to him, the addiction to pills is also the reason why Lindsay can’t get a proper acting job right now, because it obviously interferes with her acting. Lindsay is extremely talented, but she’s so heavily medicated these days, that she’s hardly able to be herself, let alone play a character for a movie, Michael dishes out. This is why he has made the decision to pull all the stops and save her from certain death – because that’s where Lindsay must be heading, her father says.
“You know why Lindsay’s not acting in feature films right now? Because she can’t.” Michael says. He then goes on to detail how the drugs Lindsay is taking are making her almost unrecognizable. “Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that’s grown because of the prescription drugs. She can’t be herself. When you hug her she’s like, vacant inside. When she kisses or holds me I get chills, and not in a good way – in a bad way.” Mr. Lohan adds.
