Lindsay Lohan arrives to court to turn herself in and begin a 90-day sentence of which she’ll only serve 14

Only a few hours ago, Lindsay Lohan turned herself in to begin a 90-day sentence stemming from violating parole from two separate DUI charges dating back to 2007. The actress made an appearance in court, where cameras were not allowed for the entire time, and was then handcuffed and escorted to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Los Angeles, where she’s to begin serving the time, Reuters reports.

After the breakdown of two weeks ago, Lindsay came across as very composed and confident in herself, though it was clear that she was very disappointed and sad about the whole idea of going to jail, reports say. Still, it could very well be that she doesn’t even have that much to worry about, since she’ll definitely not be spending 90 full days in prison. In fact, it is being said, at best, she’s out in two weeks; at worst, she’ll serve about 24 days of her sentence. Moreover, she’s not in gen pop, but in a separate cell, reserved for public figures with her exposure.

“The actress is likely to serve just 14 days behind bars, said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which runs the jail system. Whitmore told reporters that nonviolent female inmates generally serve about 25 percent of their sentence. Good behavior and jail overcrowding programs also reduce the time in LA lock-ups, he said. Beverly Hills Judge Marsha Revel on Tuesday ordered that Lohan must not be released to house arrest or electronic monitoring,” Reuters says.

“[She] looked tired and tense during a brief, silent appearance at a packed Beverly Hills courtroom on Tuesday morning, where she was handcuffed and taken into custody. Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, told reporters Lohan is ‘scared as anyone would be... and she’s resolute. She does her time just like anyone else.’ Local TV news helicopters showed live video of Lohan’s journey, an unmarked car with tinted windows, to the 2,200-bed Century Regional Detention Facility. Whitmore said that Lohan ‘has been extremely cooperative and everything is going smoothly.’ She will wear a standard orange jumpsuit, hand in any jewelry, and cellphones and computers are banned,” the same report says.

Lohan’s arrival to court was a much mediated affair, with many police officers being used to keep the crowd of paparazzi and bystanders away from the actress. However, as a video on TMZ shows, one fan did manage to get close enough to throw a handful of golden confetti as Lindsay was passing by, thus making her entrance in the courthouse a bit more… spectacular.
