Yesterday, Lindsay Lohan somehow managed to do the unthinkable, avoiding the media outside the Lynwood gates as
she was released after serving 14 days of her 90-day sentence for DUI and parole violation. She was not even allowed to see her family, as she was whisked straight to the UCLA Medical Center where she’s to get help for her addiction and emotional issues for the next three months.
Though rehab was mandated by court, Lindsay is the one who will have to pay for her stay at the facility,
TMZ reports. Given that she’s been sent to UCLA instead of Morningside, which means her problems were considered serious enough to require her being in a medical center instead of a regular rehabilitation facility, the bill is bound to be high – and Lindsay will have to pay it.
“Finally, some good news for California taxpayers – they don’t have to pay for Lindsay Lohan’s 90-day rehab stint at UCLA, even though it’s court ordered. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ it is standard practice for the offender to foot the rehab bill – which in Lindsay’s case could be pretty pricey. We’re told since UCLA Medical Center offers a more comprehensive program, it’s more expensive than your average rehab facility. The cost isn’t necessarily all out-of-pocket for LiLo – it’s possible her health insurance could pick up a portion of the tab,” TMZ informs.
Also yesterday, a mere few hours before she was quietly released from prison, word got out in the media that Lindsay required professional help for
meth addiction and psychiatric problems like bi polar disorder and other emotional issues. Ever since this was put into print, the actress’ attorney has been constantly trying to squash the reports, saying that, if Lindsay has a meth addiction, it’s the first time she ever hears about it. The attorney also denies Lindsay has such serious emotional problems as speculated in the media.
Lindsay Lohan was found in violation of her parole and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 3 months in rehab, following charges of drunken driving and cocaine possession stemming from two separate incidents. She served exactly 14 days in jail and was released yesterday because of overcrowding.
