Lindsay Lohan Dropped from ‘Inferno’

Lindsay Lohan’s extended stay in rehab has cost her another movie role, one for which she even sparked some Oscar talk. The director of “Inferno,” Matthew Wilder, confirms to E! Online that they’re going with a different actress for the much-mediated biopic.

Lindsay was cast in the role of Linda Lovelace, a well-known adult movie actress, before her legal problems began but, throughout the trial, Wilder said the film would wait for them to be over.

In fact, it’s only some weeks ago that Wilder was telling the media “Inferno” would only be made with Lohan or not at all. Clearly, he’s had a change of heart in the meantime.

“We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan. We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working out the legalities of bringing her onboard,” Wilder says for E!.

In fact, producers have already withdrawn the offer, since the name of the new actress on board, who will come to replace Lohan, will be announced on Monday, which means a decision has already been made.

As for why Wilder and producers are now backing out on Lohan, especially since she’s doing much better in rehab and has even been photographed out on the town, the director says it’s nothing personal. It simply can’t happen.

“We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her – and some other issues – have made it impossible for us to go forward,” Wilder explains.

Lohan’s rep confirms that she won’t be doing the film, but insists the decision was mutual and not one-sided as Wilder appears to be implying.

“Lindsay is dedicated to her recovery and together they decided to move forward without her,” the rep says. Lohan must remain in rehab at the Betty Ford Center at least until January 3. A judge will then decide if she’s done the time for her DUIs.
